Eight senior members of PT Simbiotic Multitalenta Indonesia (SMI) have been identified as potential suspects in the alleged Net89 trading robot investment fraud.
Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, Director of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, stated that a case title was used to identify the suspect.
He claims that the investigation team has also seized a number of documents and evidence supporting the alleged criminal violation, including bank statements, transaction evidence, and digital evidence.
In a written statement released on Thursday (6/10), Whisnu stated, "The investigation team has conducted a case and named AA as the owner of Net89 and as the founder of PT SMI as a suspect."
The Director of PT SMI with the initials LSH, the founder and exchanger of PT SMI with the initials ESI, and five PT SMI exchangers with the initials RS, AAL, HS, FI, and DA are among the other suspects, according to Wisnhu.
Whisnu revealed that the perpetrators used the tactic of offering a trading investment package disguised as an MLM Ebook that included a ponzi scheme and an investment trading robot (Net89).
This investment fraud involving trading robots is thought to have affected 300,000 people and cost 2 trillion Indonesian Rupiah.
He stated, "They promise a profit from the trading robot investment package of approximately 1% per day, 20% per month, or 20% per year as a fraud mode to attract victims."
The suspects were charged with multiple articles for their actions, including Article 378 and Article 372 of the Criminal Code, both of which carry maximum penalties of four years in prison.
In addition, the suspects are subject to a five-year prison sentence under Article 106 of Law No. 11 of 2020, which amends Law No. 7 of 2014, which prohibits trade without a permit.
They were also charged with Trading in Pyramid Schemes under Article 105 of Law No. 7 of 2014, which carries a ten-year prison sentence.
He stated, "Then Articles 3, 4, 5, and 6 of Law No. 8 of 2010 Concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Laundering (TPPU), with a maximum threat of 20 years."
